Elza Mitchum

Elza Mitchum was appointed to the Board of Visitors on July 1, 2022 by Governor Glenn Youngkin. He currently serves on the Board's Administration & Finance, Student Enhancement & Engagement and Digital Learning, and Athletics Committees.

Mitchum is president of C & M Industries, president of B.W. Mitchum Trucking Company, and president of JNB Storage Trailer Rental Corporation. C & M Industries, Inc. is a family-owned and managed small business that specializes in the transportation, treatment, recycling, and disposal of various non-hazardous, petroleum-based products, including used oil, fuel, sludge, and wastewater. Established in 1971, the company's operational capabilities and assets have expanded to include vacuum and pump truck services, tractor-trailer transport and tanker storage rental, tank onsite storage and rental, barge and tanker man services, rail services, confined space entry, emergency pumping/product transfer, and a wastewater/used oil waterfront terminal and treatment facility located on the eastern branch of the Elizabeth River in Norfolk. B.W. Mitchum Trucking Co. is a specialized freight trucking and long-distance contract hauling company. The business was established in 1966 and has annual sales of $1.9 million and employs 63 people. JNB Storage Trailer Rental is a trailer rental and leasing company.

In 2021, Mitchum was awarded the 2021 Honorary Alumni Award by the 麻豆国产AV Alumni Association. He previously served on the Board of Directors for Towne Financial Services and has supported Eastern Virginia Medical School and the Virginia Beach SPCA. He is an 麻豆国产AV Men's Basketball courtside ticket holder and has a suite at the football stadium. He is a strong supporter of the Old Dominion Athletic Foundation (ODAF) and has made significant contributions to Men's Basketball and the Basketball Practice Facility.

Mitchum is married to Catherine N. Mitchum and resides in Virginia Beach. His son, Alex, is the Vice President of C & M Industries, Inc., and is on the ODAF board. He is married to Mary Beth Mitchum and they have two small children.
