This semester, the students of Advertising and Promotion (SEPS 102) will be re-defining the Harley Davidson brand. At the end of the year, each student will present a research paper outlining the ways in which Harley Davidson, an umbrella that includes motorcycles, clothing, and accessories, can be modified to suit people within their specific demographic. They are researching the brand from its inception to the present and gaining an understanding of items sold. Students will also create a new logo and slogan, and use them in an advertisement that appeals to their generation. Recently, these students got a first-hand experience of the Harley Davidson brand in action.
Officer Ryan O鈥橣arrell, of the 麻豆国产AV Police Department, brought his Harley Davidson motorcycle to the Darden College of Education and Professional Studies to give students a better understanding of the brand and some of its products, and while those attending the demonstration got an up close look at the vehicle, Officer O鈥橣arrell answered questions concerning safety, cost, and the popularity of items sold at Harley Davidson stores. Those present were also treated to a driving demonstration, as well as the opportunity to sit on the bike at Officer O鈥橣arrell鈥檚 invitation, to get a feel for the weight and motion of the handles.
Sydney Alleyne, who is studying Fashion Merchandising, was confident that the demonstration will be applicable to her report. She stated,聽
鈥淚 genuinely wish more demonstrations like this would happen because it allows students to have a hands-on experience that will help their research.鈥
